Yuwa Nyinda Dream Academy  

 

A spark of pride and possibility

In 2024, approximately 2,000 students gathered in Kempsey for the Yuwa Nyinda Dream Academy, a two-day celebration of learning, careers, culture and identity, led by Learning the Macleay and Dhina Durriti Aboriginal Corporation. Born from local conversations about young people losing their sense of possibility, the event set out to reignite pride, belonging and hope across the Macleay Valley.

Work Life Balance

  • 30% identified community and personal wellbeing as goals over careers/work.
  • 30% who selected a career in sport and 13% who selected a career in the health sector.

Community Goals

  • 18% identified happiness as a goal for the community. Other goals included helping others.

Career Goals

  • 70% identified a career as their main goal in life. This was made up of mainly.

 

Wealth and Personal Goals

  • 19% identified personal financial wealth as their goal, while some identified being a business owner as their goal.
