Our Approach

Community Led-Systems

Community-led system change work with Learning the Macleay is all about empowering local people to drive the solutions that matter most for their community.

Instead of imposing top-down programs, Learning the Macleay brings together diverse voices from Kempsey and the Macleay Valley (including Aboriginal Elders, young people, service providers, and local organisations) to identify challenges, set priorities, and co-design actions that create lasting change.

This approach means:

Listening deeply to what community members      say about local needs, strengths, and aspirations.

Building trust and relationships across different groups, so everyone feels included and respected.

Connecting the dots between services, schools, government, and grassroots groups to create a more coordinated, effective response.

Learning and adapting together by trying new things, collecting feedback, and making improvements based on what works for the community.

So, what exactly is systems change?
